The Zappo Head, a signature piece of Arkley’s has also been described as his alter ego.
He reworked this image throughout his career in a number of forms including prints, paintings and a billboard. It reveals Arkley’s fascination with the mask and its influences – primitive masks, skulls, toys and cut-outs and indicated how he combined multiple sources to construct images.
